Amy Perez is pregnant

Days after giving an interview to the Philippine Entertainment Portal about her newfound love, DZMM reporter Carlo Castillo, Amy Perez dropped a bomb on Sunday in the entertainment talk show The Buzz. She announced that she is pregnant. "Actually, plinano naman talaga namin ni Carlo ‘yon. So pinag-usapan namin ‘yon. Meaning to say, ‘yon ‘yong napag-usapan namin from the start. So kumbaga, hindi ito naging aksidente. Hindi namin ito ginawa out of ano lang... Pinag-usapan talaga namin," clarified Amy. In an interview with PEP last week, the former Magandang Tanghali Bayan co-host and the DZMM reporter shared their love story. Amy and Carlo met in radio station DZMM on February 2006. Amy was listening to Karen Davila's radio program where a child was asking for financial help. She decided to help out by giving a donation. Carlo Castillo was the contact person in charge of the child's case. On November 12, 2006, the two became a couple. Amy has a son, Adi, with former South Border vocalist Brix Ferraris—who, until now, is his legal husband. She filed a case a few years back in a bid to declare her marriage to the singer null and void. Unfortunately, Amy's plea was junked even though she hasn't allegedly seen or heard from her estranged husband for years. Amy has taken the sole responsibility of raising her child. The nine-year-old Adi already calls Carlo "Daddy." She asserted, "Sa akin kasi, lahat ng mga bagay na ginagawa ni Carlo para sa akin, at sa anak lalo na, talagang na-appreciate ko 'yon. Sobra kong bina-value 'yon. Bukod sa pagkabolero n'ya—pero hindi naman playboy dahil marami lang ang nagkakagusto sa kanya talaga—ay malalim na tao si Carlo at responsable." Carlo commented, "Totoong tao si Amy. Mabait. Kumbaga, malayo doon sa mga artistang nakilala mo, malayo siya doon. Isa sa mga katangian ni Amy na gusto ko ay 'yong tatanungin mo siya, ‘tapos sasagutin ka niya nang patanong din." He continued, "Ever since na naging kami, nakikita namin ang development at improvement sa bawa't isa at hindi kami naghahatakan pababa. Kumbaga, nagiging productive kami sa bawa't isa." Even though Amy said that the pregnancy is planned, both Carlo's and Amy's families were surprised with their decision. "Siyempre, mixed emotions una. Masaya sila ‘tapos, of course, mayroon ‘yong takot na alam nilang bago pa lang relasyon namin ni Carlo. Plus the fact that at this point, alam naman ng lahat at kahit si Carlo na wala akong maipapangakong kasal sa kanya," said Amy. "So naging open naman kami doon... Kumbaga, hindi ko ‘yon tinago sa kanya. At ‘yon lang naman, may mga fears—oth our families—pero sinabi naman namin, pinangako naman namin ni Carlo sa kanila, kakayanin namin at gagawin namin ang lahat para maiayos at maitama ang dapat itama." Seemingly uncomfortable with being the subject instead of the reporter, Carlo simply assured Amy that he is not going anywhere. "Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya na mahal na mahal ko siya," he said. "Nais ko lang humingi ng tawad sa mga magulang namin siyempre, sa pamilya ni Carlo, sa pamilya ko, di ba? Alam kong masaya sila pero alam ko ring nasasaktan sila sa nangyayari—natatakot o nasasaktan. Lalo na sa pamilya ni Carlo. But we promised each other na we will support each other at aayusin namin lahat ng dapat.
