Ely Buendia’s operation successful - manager

MANILA, Philippines - Ely Buendia, frontman for the Filipino rock band Eraserheads, underwent another angioplasty procedure Monday morning after his heart attack during their reunion concert last Saturday night. According to a radio report, Ely’s manager, Day Cabuhat, said that Ely is now "100 percent fully-restored" after doctors at the Philippine Heart Center operated his clogged blood vessel. Meanwhile, a separate report on GMA News’ Saksi said Ely was declared in stable condition after the operation. Ely’s wife, Diane, said the angioplasty procedure was successful, and the singer-composer is now on his road to recovery. “He’s OK. He’s in stable condition," said Dian. However, the report said Buendia has to stay in hospital for two more weeks for a cardiac rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Ely’s former band mates, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro, hinted at holding another concert reunion. “Salamat sa pagpunta. Salamat sa pag-unawa. Babawi kami," they said. On August 30, the band’s much awaited concert reunion was cut short following Buendia’s heart attack. Ely was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and his former band mates, accompanied by Ely’s sister Lally, broke the sad news to thousands of fans who attended the concert. Organizers said fans understood the reasons for the abrupt end of the concert, but they requested for a follow-up reunion concert. On Sunday, Ely was transferred to the Philippine Heart Center. In 2007, Ely also suffered a heart attack while his new band Pupil was performing in Laguna. He underwent two angioplasty procedures at the PHC. - GMANews.TV
