Kim Ji Soo stays committed to learning Tagalog, admits it is 'difficult'

Kim Ji Soo is still continuously learning how to speak Tagalog and remains eager to master it so he can better communicate with Filipinos.

In an interview with GMA News Online during GMA Network’s Thanksgiving party Wednesday night, Ji Soo said that it has been a gradual process for him.

“I’m learning konti-konti, pero it’s like difficult. I’m still trying to learn,” he said.

Nevertheless, the Sparkle star remains committed to improving his Tagalog.

“Actually, I’m gonna start my class next week. First class with my manager. She’s gonna teach me Tagalog,” he shared.

When asked if he has tips for those who are also interested in learning Tagalog, Ji Soo admitted that he doesn’t have any yet, but shared that he is attentive in listening.

“I’m still [a] beginner in Tagalog, so I couldn't [give] advice to other people, but I’m just trying to be open-minded, and I’m just trying to hear what they’re saying and trying to understand,” he said.

Accoridng to Ji Soo, his decision to learn is purely personal.

“Since I’m working here, you know, I need to learn Tagalog. So I want to communicate [with] more people,” he said. “No one forced me to learn Tagalog. It’s just by myself. I wanted to learn Tagalog [so] that I can communicate with more people. So it’s gonna be more [on my] friendship with Filipino people.”
