Ruru Madrid back on set of 'Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan' after gracing MIFF 2025 in LA
Ruru Madrid is back on the set of "Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan" after gracing the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) 2025 in Los Angeles, California, the previous week.
Ruru's film with Dennis Trillo, MMFF 2024 Best Picture winner "Green Bones," was among the films screened at the festival.
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" Thursday, the Kapuso Primetime Action Hero shared how happy he is for "Green Bones" to be seen by Filipinos abroad.
"[Ang] madala po natin 'yung ganung klaseng film sa abroad at mapanood po ito ng mga kapwa po nating Pilipino na dun po naninirahan, napakasarap po sa puso at makita sila umiiyak at nakakarelate dun sa storya ng 'Green Bones,'" he said.
Fresh from LA, Ruru is recharged and inspired as he returned to taping for "Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan."
"Para bang hindi ko nararamdaman 'yung pagod, mas na-e-excite ako sa mga magiging bagong storya ng 'Lolong' dahil iba-ibang aksyon at iba-ibang drama ang inyong mapapanood ngayon," he said.
Ruru attended the MIFF 2025 Awards Gala Night alongside "Green Bones" co-star Sofia Pablo and Dingdong Dantes, who presented a special award. Also in attendance were GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes and Sparkle First Vice President Joy Marcelo.
“Green Bones," directed by Zig Dulay and produced by GMA Pictures, is based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs.
Meanwhile, "Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan" airs weekdays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras" on GMA Prime.
