Karylle honored to play Aurora Quezon in 'Quezon' biopic

Karylle will play the role of Aurora Quezon, the wife of former Philippine president Manuel L. Quezon, in Jerrod Tarog's "Quezon" biopic.

On Instagram, the "It's Showtime" host shared some snaps of her with her fellow actors of the film during their script reading.

She also included a photo of her in a library in Singapore where she did some research on the former first lady.

"What an honor to be playing First Lady Aurora Quezon in TBA Studio's 'Quezon,'" Karylle said. "I don't know if 'excited' is a good enough word to express how wonderful I'm feeling right now."

"Thank you [Jerrold Tarog] for giving me lots of moments to prep with you and the cast. Looking forward to our next sessions before we start filming and am preparing well to do my job well," she added.

"Quezon" is the third installment of TBA Studios' "Bayaniverse" following "Heneral Luna" in 2015 and  "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral" in 2018. It is set to premiere in cinemas this year.

Earlier, TBA Studios announced that Jericho Rosales will portray the role of Quezon, a Filipino lawyer and soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.

Joining Karylle and Jericho are Mon Confiado and Benjamin Alves, who are reprising their roles from "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral."

Mon will return as Emilio Aguinaldo and Quezon's political rival, while Benjamin will play a younger Manuel L. Quezon.

Other cast members include Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, the first Vice President of the Philippines, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the only fictional character in the film series.
