Benjamin Alves welcomes Jericho Rosales to the 'Bae-yani Universe'

Benjamin Alves has nothing but praise for Jericho Rosales, who will be taking on the role of Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon in the upcoming historical film, "Quezon."

The Kapuso actor shared a photo with Jericho on Instagram, where they held up P20 bills.

Benjamin called Jericho, “The Philippines’ Quezon.”

The actor also has this teaser about the upcoming film.

“From our initial meetings, rehearsals and readings: this is going to be a Quezon we have never seen or read about.”

Benjamin also told Jericho, “Honored to explore such a deep, historic, and colorful person with you Kuya! Like I told you, I will do my best to keep up."

“Welcome to the Bae-yani Universe, Señor Presidente!”

Quezon,” directed by Jerrold Tarrog, will begin production in March. It will follow the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a lawyer and a soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944, highlighting his tumultuous presidential campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo.

Jericho was revealed to play the titular character on Tuesday morning.

Benjamin, who previously portrayed the younger version of Quezon in “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” will reprise his role in the upcoming movie. In a previous Instagram photo, a name plate of his character showed, “Quezon 1.”

Mon Confiado will return as Emilio Aguinaldo and Quezon's political rival. Other cast members include Karylle Yuzon as Quezon's wife, Aurora Quezon, Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, the first Vice President of the Philippines, JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the only fictional character in the film series.

"Quezon," a third installment of TBA Studios' "Bayaniverse" following "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," will premiere in cinemas later this year.
