Benjamin Alves gears up for 'Quezon' film

Benjamin Alves is gearing up for his role as former Philippine president Manuel Quezon in Jerrold Tarog's upcoming biopic, "Quezon."

On Instagram, Tuesday, the Sparkle actor shared a photo from what seems to be a script-reading session for the film, the third installment of Tarog's Bayaniverse trilogy after "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral."

One of the photos showed his name along with "Quezon 1." In the previous films, Benjamin played the younger version of Quezon.

"Q," he wrote in the caption.

"Quezon" will follow the life of Quezon, a lawyer and a soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944, highlighting his tumultuous presidential campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo.

Mon Confiado will reprise his role as Aguinaldo from the first two films.

TBA Studios recently announced that production for "Quezon" will begin in March and the film targets a theatrical release this year.

Benjamin recently starred in GMA Prime series "Widows' War" as fan-favorite character Basil Palacios.
