Dakila, giant crocodile of ‘Lolong’ stuns netizens at QC mall

With the return of “Lolong” on television comes the return of its beloved giant crocodile Dakila!

On social media, GMA News shared a couple of clips from the media conference of the much-awaited Kapuso series at the Gateway 2 Mall in Quezon City, including the humungous display of Dakila the crocodile crawling through the signature ceiling display of the mall.

When "Lolong," aired its first season in 2022, Dakila became a quick draw for the series, thanks to its sheer size and presence. According to a previous report, Dakila is a 22-feet long animatronic crocodile made with a fiberglass body and silicone skin.

The crocodile and the titular character formed an unlikely friendship, which the first season followed. The adventure series also tackled themes of family, friendship, and the environment.

"Lolong” became the most watched TV show in the Philippines. It was hailed as “Best Primetime Serye” at the Gawad Pilipino Icon of the Year 2022 and was the Philippines’ National Winner for Best Visual/Special Effects at the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards.

 “Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan” takes place four years after the first season, with the titular character, Lolong, now a masked hero helping maintain the peace in their small town. It is set to premiere on GMA Prime on January 20.
