MMFF extends run in select cinemas until January 14
The Metro Manila Film Festival will extend the run of its official entries until January 14 in select cinemas, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Atty. Don Artes on Monday.
Artes said the extension came following calls from the public and movie enthusiasts. This as he also thanked the patronage of moviegoers to the official entries of the MMFF.
“We, at the MMFF, are overwhelmed with the continued support of the public for the festival’s 50th edition. Due to public clamor, we have decided to extend the theatrical run of the MMFF movies to further showcase the locally produced films that are truly impressive and artistically excellent,” Artes said in a press release.
The festival is supposed to end on Tuesday, January 7.
Artes said the MMFF complimentary passes would be honored until January 14. He expressed hope that the earnings will continue to increase amid the extension.
The proceeds from the MMFF will go to a number of beneficiaries, such as the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund), the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, the Optical Media Board, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
The official entries include ''And The Breadwinner Is,'' ''Espantaho,'' ''Green Bones,'' ''Hold Me Close,'' ''Isang Himala,'' ''My Future You,'' ''Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital,'' ''The Kingdom,'' ''Topakk,'' and ''Uninvited.''
''Green Bones," produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, was hailed as the Best Picture at the MMFF. —Anna Felicia Bajo/AOL, GMA Integrated News
