Jillian Ward gets Hiligaynon masterclass from mom for ‘My Ilonggo Girl’

Who else would teach Jillian Ward Hiligaynon for her role in “My Ilonggo Girl” but from her Ilongga mom?

On “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” the Sparkle star said she asked her mom for some lessons in Hiligaynon to prepare for her role in the upcoming Kapuso series.

“Growing up, naririnig ko siyang magsalita ng Hiligaynon, pero hindi niya ako tinuruan,” Jillian shared.

“So nagpapaturo po ako sa kaniya, tapos na-fu-frustrate siya. ‘Bat di mo makuha anak?’ Sabi ko, ‘Ma, hindi ko kasalanan. Hindi mo ako tinuruan,” she said. 

“My Ilonggo Girl” premieres on GMA Prime on January 13. It also features Michael Sager, Yasser Marta and Vince Maristella, along with Jillian.

"My Ilonggo Girl" comes at the heels of Jillian's old show, "Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap" which ended in October after more than two years on GMA Afternoon Prime.
