Dennis Trillo donates MMFF cash prize to PDLs

Dennis Trillo has donated the monetary prize he received for being named Best Actor at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal.
On Facebook, Dennis's road manager, Jan Enriquez, detailed how Dennis and his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, donated the P100,000 cash prize to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
According to Jan, he was tasked to claim the P100,000 cash prize on behalf of Dennis during the awards night, but Jennylyn Mercado told him to donate it instead to PDLs.
“Agad-agad ko itong inabot kay JC Rubio na siyang may konek sa grupo ng mga PDL kung saan hango o inspired ang Tree of Hope,” Jan wrote.
JC Rubio, an award-winning senior program manager for I-Witness and Kara Docs and a creative producer for GMA Pictures, is the concept creator of "Green Bones."
In his post, Jan said there is an actual Tree of Hope at a facility for PDLs. "Doon po gagamitin ang 100K para matupad ang mga munti nilang hiling,” he said.
Jan added the cash prize of Team Green Bones during their guesting at "Family Feud" was also donated to PDLs.
"Thank you for your kindness, Dennis! You truly embody our movie's message!" he said.
Nessa Valdellon, GMA Pictures Senior Vice President, shared Jan's post on Facebook and thanked Dennis.
"This was heartwarming," Nessa said.
"Green Bones" took home six awards at the MMFF Gabi ng Parangal. Aside from Dennis' Best Actor award, "Green Bones" also won Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Ruru Madrid), Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens), Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography during the awards night held at Solaire Resort in Parañaque City.
"Green Bones" follows prisoner Domingo Zamora (Dennis), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what.
The film is now showing in over 100 cinemas nationwide.
