Ruru Madrid dedicates Best Supporting Actor award to the 'underdogs'
Ruru Madrid has dedicated his Best Supporting Actor award at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Gabi ng Parangal to the “underdogs” of the show business industry.
On Instagram on Saturday, the Kapuso Primetime Action Hero shared his portrait holding his well-deserved trophy during the awards night, a photo with his girlfriend Bianca Umali, and a video of himself when his name was called for the award.
“Ang parangal na ito ay para sa lahat ng ‘Underdog’ na katulad ko,” he said.
“Maraming beses man tayong sinusubok, pero ito ang nagsisilbing lakas natin upang lalong pagbutihin ang ating ginagawa—hindi lamang para patunayan ang ating sarili sa mga taong hindi naniniwala, kundi bilang patunay sa ating sarili na karapat-dapat tayo dito,” he added.
Ruru also gave a special shoutout to Bianca for being his support system.
“At sa aking Mahal, salamat sa walang sawang suporta at pagmamahal,” he said.
“Kasama ka sa bawat tagumpay na ito,” he added.
Ruru received the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as a prison guard named Xavier Gonzaga in the GMA Pictures film “Green Bones.”
Aside from Ruru, his co-star Dennis Trillo was also a winner, bagging the Best Actor award.
Meanwhile, “Green Bones” was awarded Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza), Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens). —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA Integrated News
