Ruru Madrid wins Best Supporting Actor for 'Green Bones' at MMFF 2024 Gabi ng Parangal
Ruru Madrid won Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Green Bones" at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Gabi ng Parangal on Friday.
The drama film marks the Sparkle star's first MMFF entry. For Best Supporting Actor, he bested nominees Jhong Hilario, Kokoy De Santos, David Ezra, and Sid Lucero.
During his speech, the Kapuso Primetime Action Hero said that he has been an underdog his whole life.
He also addressed his "Green Bones" co-star, Dennis Trillo, saying that he will forever carry the privilege of having worked with him.
Lastly, he expressed his gratitude to his girlfriend, Bianca Umali, for being his biggest inspiration, saying he wouldn't have this success without her.
Ruru played the role of prison guard Xavier Gonzaga in the film.
Directed by Zig Dulay, it follows the story of prisoner Domingo Zamora (Dennis) who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo's up for parole, newly assigned prison guard Xavier Gonzaga takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what.
