Dennis Trillo bags Best Actor for 'Green Bones' at MMFF 2024 Gabi ng Parangal

Dennis Trillo took home the Best Actor award at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Gabi ng Parangal on Friday at Solaire Resort in Parañaque City.

The Kapuso actor won the coveted award for his role in "Green Bones" as the notorious prisoner Domingo Zamora.

Other nominees for Best Actor include Vice Ganda, Seth Fedelin, Vic Sotto, Piolo Pascual, and Arjo Atayde.

"Maraming salamat sa MMFF, sa MMDA, sa lahat ng mga nagdesisyon para mabigay ang mga parangal na ito ngayong gabi. Maraming salamat po sa mga taong naniniwala sa akin. Sa GMA Films, Ms. Annette Gozon, Ms. Nessa, Sir Ricky Lee, JC Rubio, Anj Atienza, na nanalong Best Screenplay. Sa aming direktor, Direk Zig Dulay, maraming salamat sa tiwalang binigay niyo sa akin. Sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa ‘kin," said Dennis. 

The Kapuso Drama King also dedicated his award to his family.

"Sa aking number one supporter, nandun po ang aking asawa, si Ms. Jennylyn Mercado. Maraming salamat! Inaalay ko ‘to, ang award na ‘to, sa aking pamilya. Sila po talaga ang nagi-inspire sa ‘kin para pagbutihin ‘tong ginagawa ko na ‘to na i-maximize lahat ng opportunity na binibigay sa ‘kin. Maraming salamat po. Hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan ‘to. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Thank you. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino."

His co-star, Ruru Madrid, also won Best Supporting Actor at the Gabi ng Parangal.

"Green Bones" follows the story of prisoner Domingo Zamora who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, newly assigned prison guard (Ruru Madrid) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what.

It's based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs, with its screenplay written by National Artist Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza.

"Green Bones" also stars Michael De Mesa, Alessandra De Rossi, Ronnie Lazaro, Mikoy Morales, Sienna Stevens, Gerhard Acao, Iza Calzado, Sofia Pablo, and more
