Arra San Agustin denies she and Paolo Contis had a relationship

Arra San Agustin denied she and Paolo Contis had a relationship.

The Sparkle star set the record straight on Thursday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," where she was asked by Tito Boy if she ever had a relationship with the actor.

"No. Hard no," she answered.

Tito Boy's question came after rumors spread in 2023 that the two artists were romantically involved with each other while Paolo was still in a relationship with Yen Santos, who is now his ex.

According to Arra, this started in the variety show "Tahananang Pinakamasaya" where she and Paolo had a love triangle skit with Kapuso comedian Betong Sumaya for the show's segment, "TP Happy."

"'Yung mga tao, they cut out pictures of me and Kuya Paolo tapos gumagawa sila ng mga articles, like mga headlines na ako daw 'yung third party, so nag-start po 'yan last year," she said.

"Tapos for some reason, nag-resurface po siya, itong news na 'to, and fake news, fake 'yung source, dun po siya galing and I don't know why karamihan sa mga tao naniniwala."

She said that this is the danger with social media because disinformation abounds.

"We can easily be manipulated or gaslighted by a single headline lang na hindi naman pala totoo. So what, is it really real, ano ba talaga 'yung totoo? Anong totoo sa social media? Nothing, I guess," she said.

Per the actress, netizens do not bother to ask if the news is true and instead just draw conclusions, with some even labelling her a third party.

"They draw conclusions like, 'Hay ba't ganiyan, ba't ganiyan 'yung ginawa, ba't pumayag kang maging third party?' Ganun 'yung mga comments nila sa 'kin. Parang ako, 'Wow, you know too much.'"

She and Paolo also do not have videos and photos casually hanging out together without their "TP fam," adding that they have been co-workers since her first show, "Bubble Gang."

"Wala, wala silang makikita. It was really coming from zero. Yes, antagal na po naming naging magka-work, since 'Bubble Gang.' First show ko po 'yun. Wala naman," said Arra.

In November 2023, Paolo said on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" that the the viral video of him kissing Arra on the forehead during a segment for "Eat Bulaga" was "maliciously edited."

Arra is set to star in the upcoming Kapuso series "My Ilonggo Girl" alongside Jillian Ward, Michael Sager, and more.
