Jung Hae In raves about support from Filipino fans

South Korean actor Jung Hae In was all praises for his Filipino fans as he spent time with them on Saturday at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

Filipinos are the best at expressing their love and dedication for him, according to Hae In, who also hosted fan meetings in Manila in 2018, 2019, and 2023.

At his “Our Time” fan meeting on Saturday, the actor opened the show with Tagalog phrases he learned.

“Kamusta kayo? Ang tagal nating hindi nagkita. Namiss niyo ba ako? Namiss ko 'rin kayo… Masaya akong makita kayo ulit!” the 36-year-old said.

(How are you? We haven't seen each other for a long time. Did you miss me? I miss all of you. I'm happy to see you again!)

Along with making a Filipino dessert, mais con yelo, for himself and three lucky fans, Hae In also recited a few Tagalog lines. The actor also tried Filipino games.

Accommodating questions and requests from fans, Hae In shared he would love to try surfing in the Philippines.

“Aside from snowboarding, if I ever have an opportunity to have a trip in the Philippines, I actually would like to try surfing here,” he said.

He also said that it would be interesting to have a Filipino actor play the antagonist in a remake of his film "Veteran 2," which was shown at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in France in May.

The actor also performed several songs, such as “The Truth,” which he sang for his hit K-Drama “Love Next Door,” and “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez.

“Whenever I visit here in the Philippines, I feel so grateful because you guys are always cheering for me and coming over to see me every time I come to Manila. Thank you so much. I’ll make sure to keep your hearts and go back to Korea, so whenever I’m doing a project and having a hard time, I’m reminded of you guys,” he said in his closing message.

“During the time I was in Korea, you guys were able to do great things and fun things together. You guys are so cool, and also every time there is a shooting, I remember the snacks and coffee that you guys send us abroad even though you are apart from me. So, I actually appreciate every bit of effort and love from you guys,” Hae In said.

His Pinoy Haeiness echoed their appreciation and love for the actor, calling him a ''genuine'' person.

“[I love] yung pagiging genuine niya na tao, and yung passion niya. Kasi kung passion natin yung tinitignan and hinahangaan niya, ako rin. ‘Yun yung hinahangaan ko sa kanya,” shared fan Kris Viudez.

([I love] that he’s a genuine person, and his passion. Because if our passion is what he looks at and admires, that’s the same for me too. That’s what I admire about him.)

“Aside from being a good actor, he’s very genuine; he’s very kind at heart. You can see it in the way he helps other people. Aside from yung pagpapasaya sa kanila, he also gives back sa community niya (Aside from giving them joy, he also gives back to his community), and he gives back to his fans in a very generous way,” added fan Nina Evangelista.

Hae In is known for his lead roles in dramas ''Something in the Rain,'' ''One Spring Night,'' "Snowdrop," ''D.P.'', and ''Love Next Door,'' and movies ''Tune in for Love'' and “Veteran 2.'' —VBL, GMA Integrated News
