Gary Valenciano finished his “Pure Energy” concert early on Friday night due to health concerns.

Before announcing to the crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Gary V sat down onstage and said that what he would be saying was not part of the script.

“I don’t know if I can finish this show tonight,” the artist said at the concert, and was posted in a video by The Big Dome on X.

“But what I want to do, is I want to do the songs that I know can speak into your hearts,” he added.

“It breaks my heart to know that we have prepared so much for all of you. But the body is saying, ‘Gary, be cautious, Gary. You have many more years to go.’”

The Big Dome added that Gary V admitted he was feeling under the weather before the show, but wanted to push through for the sake of his fans who traveled to see him.

In a series of Facebook posts, the artist’s wife Angeli Pangilinan gave updates on Gary’s health.

“He ingested something and vomited so many times in the last two hours. He wasn’t sure he could do this concert. The doctors were backstage and he had an IV … and he said he wants to do it!” Angeli posted.

“But he has since sang six songs.. changing the repertoire … please continue to pray,” she said.

In her next post, Angeli told fans not to worry and that “Gary is ok… just dehydrated.”

“He vomited about 8 times today. But am here with him and he’s just weak,” she added.

“A Type 1 diabetic goes through serious medical issues and we couldn’t afford what we call diabetic ketoacidosis so we are making sure he balances everything in a while,” Angeli said and also thanked the fans for their prayers.

Angeli also posted a video of Gary, assuring everyone that he is doing well.

“Hey guys, I’m getting better. Good people taking care of me. I’ll be okay, don’t worry. God bless,” Mr. Pure Energy said.

Angeli wrote in the caption, “He’s okay everyone! Good vitals, alive, strong heart and just a tad bit dehydrated!!! Blood pressure is normal so is blood sugar. God is good!!!!”

She also thanked everyone who watched the show and prayed for Gary V, as well as Lifeline 16-911 and her cousin Dr. Chad Hizon for being there with them.

Angeli also thanked the cast and crew, concert guests Regine Velasquez, Rayver Cruz, Maymay Entrata, Ice Seguerra, and BGYO, and their family and kids.

Despite his various health challenges such as living with type-1 diabetes, undergoing bypass surgery, and surviving kidney cancer, Gary V remains Mr. Pure Energy. He recently had his 100th concert at the Music Museum in October.

Gary has been holding his “Pure Energy” concerts throughout the year in celebration of his 40th year in the entertainment industry.

He is scheduled to have a concert on Sunday, December 22, where SB19 is among the guests.

His top hits include “Di Bale Nalang,” “Di Na Natuto,” “Warrior is a Child,” “Shout for Joy,” “Sana Maulit Muli,” and “Take Me Out of the Dark,” among many others. —Nika Roque/KG, GMA Integrated News
