Joel Torre names the late Cherie Gil, Sid Lucero, Euwenn Mikaell among artists he'd invite to dinner

Should Joel Torre invite fellow artists for a dinner party, who would they be and why?

The veteran actor answered this on Friday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” starting with his friend, Ronnie Lazaro, who stars in the upcoming MMFF entry, “Green Bones.”

“We starred together in ‘Oro, Plata, Mata,’” he said.

Joel also mentioned the late Cherie Gil, “‘Cause we were so close. I think I made more movies with Cherie than any other leading lady. Bihira kang magkakaroon ng babae na kaibigan, alam mo ‘yon? And exchange of ideas.”

He would also invite the late Vic Silayan and director Mike De Leon.

“I wanted to explore the era that they have, the golden era of Philippine cinema, and studio systems and all that. I really look up to Vic Silayan. When I saw ‘Kisapmata,’ dun ako—nayanig talaga ako sa kaniya,” Joel said of Vic.

When asked to name young actors, Joel named Sid Lucero and Euwenn Mikaell.

Joel and Euwenn starred in the drama film “Lolo and the Kid," which premiered in August on Netflix.

“It was such a phenomenal [movie] and everybody’s raving about Euwenn. I want this boy to really succeed kasi nakikita ko sa kaniya ‘yung sarili ko noong bata pa ako when I was doing theater,” he said.
