Boy Abunda weighs in on Maris Racal, Anthony Jennings issue

Boy Abunda weighs in on Maris Racal, Anthony Jennings issue

Boy Abunda gave his two cents on the issue surrounding Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings.

On Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Kapuso host went back on the points that Maris made in her video statement released earlier today.

In the statement, the actress took accountability for everything. She also claimed that Anthony told her he was single when they were first starting their relationship, and that she felt truly embarrassed after screenshots of their conversations were exposed without her consent.

According to Tito Boy, he does not understand why the anger towards Maris is extreme.

"Ako ang aking reaksyon ay bakit sobra ang galit natin kay Maris? Bakit sobra? Because we're not ready, because there is no place in Philippine society for women who are aggressive, for women who make the first move, for women, for example, who say may pangangailangan ako?" he said.

"For women na halimbawa nagpakita ng gusto ng kaniyang... I mean, women who flirt ay kaagad malandi?"

He also said that had Maris's texts messages come from a man, the public's reaction would have been different.

"Ilagay mo 'yung mga salitang 'yan sa isang lalaki, iba ho ang reaksyon. 'Wow, hot' kasi pogi, lalaki, macho, 'yun lamang."

Tito Boy added that the public should also think about how they react to issues.

"I think we also have to assess the way we react to things dahil nasaan ang pagkakapantay-pantay ng mga babae at lalaki? And remember, itong conversations na ito were meant to be private, malas both are public figure," he said.

For Tito Boy, Maris's statement felt genuine and he acknowledged that this time is probably one of the lowest points of her life.

"Somehow you're a friend and I really wish you the best," he said, addressing Maris.

However, he noted one hole in her statement, saying that in her text messages to Anthony, she asked him if they can delete messages.

Paraphrasing the texts, the Kapuso host pointed out that Maris told Anthony that someday, they would not have to delete messages.

This, per Tito Boy, was something that he questioned as an audience and commentator.

"So, to say that you didn't have any knowledge that they were still together medyo kinu-kuwestyon ko as an audience, as a commentator. 'Yun lamang po, but ako'y humahanga dun sa bravery ni Maris at balita ko po si Anthony Jennings is going to make a statement anytime now," he said.

On late Tuesday night, Anthony's non-showbiz ex-girlfriend, Jamela Villanueva, exposed the actor's alleged cheating with Maris, sharing screenshots of their conversations on Instagram Stories.

Jamela and Anthony were together for seven years, and her expose came after Anthony announced their breakup early this week.
