'Green Bones' starring Dennis Trillo, Ruru Madrid releases official trailer
The official trailer of "Green Bones" just dropped, and it's proof that the drama really is one of the most awaited films at the Metro Manila Film Festival this December.
The gritty, three-minute trailer begins with the arrest of Domingo Zamora, played by Dennis Trillo, for the murder of his sister, Joanna Zamora-Pineda.
It then follows his transfer to San Fabian Prison and Penal Farm, the largest prison island outside of Metro Manila.
Here enters Gonzaga, Ruru Madrid's character, a newly assigned prison guard in the penal colony. His early encounters with Domingo fuel his suspicions about the latter's motivations and plans to escape.
Throughout the trailer, Ruru's character ruminates about his own realizations about good and evil, and the gray areas thereof. As he co-exists with the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in San Fabian, one is left to ponder about the common humanity that all of the characters share.
Hope is a strong theme, as well, giving rise to the belief that perhaps where there's life, there's hope — even for people like Domingo and his fellow PDLs.
At the end of the trailer, Gonzaga wonders, "Pwede bang tubuan ng kabutihan ang taong nagkasala? (Can goodness grow from someone who has taken a wrong turn?)"
"Green Bones," directed by award-winning Kapuso director Zig Dulay, is set to premiere on December 25, Christmas Day at the MMFF,
It is based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs, with its screenplay written by National Artist Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza.
Aside from Dennis and Ruru, veteran actor Michael De Mesa also stars in the film, alongside Ronnie
Lazaro, Kylie Padilla, Iza Calzado, Sofia Pablo, and more.
"Green Bones" is produced by GMA Pictures and Public Affairs, and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.
