Niño Muhlach on son Sandro’s bashers: ‘They can say whatever they want to say’
Niño Muhlach addressed the bashers of his son, Sandro, during his guesting on Tuesday's “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," where he talked about the case that Sandro filed against independent contractors Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz
The Department of Justice (DOJ) had filed one count of rape through sexual assault and two counts of acts of lasciviousness against Nones and Cruz in October, more than two months after Sandro and the National Bureau of Investigation filed a complaint against them.
During his guesting, Niño addressed the bashing that his son received after the case went public.
“They can say whatever they want to say,” he said. "Gawa-gawa lang daw ni Sandro. Kesyo pera lang daw habol ni Sandro. What’s the point? Bakit gagawin ng bata ‘yong ganong kaso?"
He pointed out that there is no point to Sandro making up such a story because it would cause his son to lose his job and tarnish their family name.
"Alam niyang mawawalan siya ng trabaho. What’s the point? Tsaka sisirain niya ‘yung pangalan ng mga Muhlach. Di 'ba?” he added.
He also dismissed comments that his son is just after money, saying that he can raise Sandro without the latter entering showbiz.
“There’s no point. Kung pera naman, kahit hindi mag-artista si Sandro kaya ko namang buhayin si Sandro eh. Sorry, hindi naman sa pagmamayabang pero kaya ko namang buhayin si Sandro,” he said.
According to Niño, he also heard some people say that Sandro's case was weak, among other reactions, but he decided to be quiet and wait for the DOJ's decision.
"Hindi na ako nagsalita after that. Inintay ko na lang lumabas 'yung decision ng DOJ dahil tama naman, nung lumabas 'yung decision ng DOJ, talagang matibay nga 'yung kaso and sila mismo 'yung nagsabi," he said.
After charges were filed against Nones and Cruz in October, their legal counsel Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque said that they will appeal the DOJ's resolution on the case. Meanwhile, Sandro's camp lauded the filing of charges, saying it is "one step closer" to attaining justice.
Niño, for his part, said he believes that things will eventually "fall into place."
"I believe in the justice system of the Philippines. And tiwalang-tiwala talaga ako doon sa kaso na matibay kaya OK na ako," he told Tito Boy.
He also gave an update about Sandro's condition, saying that his son is still undergoing therapy.
