Niño Muhlach confident son Sandro's case is strong, believes in PH justice system

Niño Muhlach believes that justice will prevail in the case filed by his son, Sandro, against Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz.

The two independent contractors have been charged with rape through sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness in October, over two months after Sandro first filed a criminal complaint against them.

On Tuesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Niño said he has faith that things will eventually "fall into place."

"I believe in the justice system of the Philippines. And tiwalang-tiwala talaga ako doon sa kaso na matibay kaya OK na ako," he said.

Nones and Cruz's legal counsel, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, previously said they will appeal the Department of Justice resolution on the case.

According to Niño, he didn't want the case to turn public the way it did, but it eventually reached the Senate because of Senator Robin Padilla, who chairs the Committee on Public Information and Mass Media.

"Well, ang unang-una kong lalapitan talaga nung nalaman ko was senador din, si Senator Bong Revilla. Nung nilapitan ko si Sen, ayoko nga kasing—hangga't maaari, ayokong kumalat eh, ['yung] issue. Gusto kong protektahan si Sandro," he said.

After the issue went public, Niño heard some people say that his son's case was weak, among other reactions.

"Hindi na ako nagsalita after that. Inintay ko na lang lumabas 'yung decision ng DOJ dahil tama naman, nung lumabas 'yung decision ng DOJ, talagang matibay nga 'yung kaso and sila mismo 'yung nagsabi," he said.

When asked if he's willing to forgive, Niño answered, "Tito Boy, Diyos nga kayang magpatawad, tayo pa kaya? Tao lang tayo, 'di ba?"

"Pero puwede naman 'yung patawad, madali 'yon eh. Pero kailangan nilang pagbayaran 'yung ginawa nila sa batas. Puwede namang nakakulong sila pero pinatawad ko sila eh, 'di ba?"

Meanwhile, Niño also gave an update on Sandro's condition, saying that his son is still undergoing therapy.

"As much as possible ayoko nang [balikan] 'yung mismong moment na 'yun. Even 'pag pinag-uusapan namin 'yung kaso with the lawyers, ano pa rin siya eh, naaapektuhan pa rin," he said.
