Neri Naig arrest: SEC gives more details on case
As Neri Naig remains detained, more details have come to light regarding the charges of syndicated estafa and violations of the securities regulation code filed against her.
Her husband Chito Miranda, who addressed what happened to his wife on social media, shared a letter with no date and signature from a certain Chanda Atienza addressed to Neri.
The letter apologized for Dermacare's current issues, particularly on their ability to distribute shares to investors. The letter asked Neri to remain neutral on the issue.
Chito, in his defense of Neri, said that she was only an endorser and all the money went to Chanda, owner of Dermacare.
According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, a Chanda Atienza from Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Solutions was named in an advisory released by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in September 2023.
She was said to be encouraging the public to invest money in their company in exchange for profits and other benefits.
According to the SEC, the company was not authorized to solicit investments because they are not registered and have no license to sell securities.
In the same advisory, the commission said that salesmen, brokers, dealers, agents, promoters, influencers, and endorsers of Dermacare may be sued.
In a Facebook post on September 1, 2023, Neri announced that she is no longer affiliated with Dermacare and any transaction using her name is not authorized or was done without her permission.
GMA Integrated News is still searching for Atienza for her statement.
Meanwhile, Neri has been brought back to the Pasay City Jail female dormitory after her supposed arraignment on Thursday was moved to January 9. Her camp has filed a motion to quash and the Pasay Regional Trial Court has asked the prosecution and the SEC to comment on the motion.
