Ruru Madrid says ‘Green Bones’ is a dream come true

Ruru Madrid has always dreamt of playing a lead role in a movie, and now he’s finally got it.

On Instagram, the Kapuso Action Drama Prince shared some behind the scene snaps from the set of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 entry “Green Bones,” and said that it is a dream he has been waiting for so long.

“Unang lead role para sa ika-50th na taon ng Metro Manila Film Festival at kasama pa ang isa sa mga pinaka hinahangaan kong aktor na si Dennis Trillo mula sa direksyon ni Zig Dulay,” Ruru said, adding that he never thought he would be part of such a historic project.

“Bawat pagod, bawat sakripisyo, at lahat ng paghahanda ay para sa pagkakataong ito,” he continued.

Thanking everyone who supported and believed in him, as well as to the GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures, the production companies behind the film, Ruru made sure to mention that it is an “honor” to  bring to life the work of the  National Artists of the Philippines for Film and Broadcast Arts, Ricky Lee.

“Malapit na nating makita ang bunga ng ating mga pinaghirapan, at hindi ko na maipaliwanag ang saya. Mapapanood na ito sa mga sinehan sa December 25, 2024,” Ruru ended.

Meanwhile, fans and his girlfriend Bianca Umali sent in their congratulations and expressed support to the actor in the comment section.

“Congratulations mahal ko!!!” Bianca wrote.

“We are all rooting for you Ruru,” a netizen commented.

Ruru is set to play jail guard officer Gonzaga, alongside Dennis who will play the role of an inmate.

Kylie Padilla and Sofia Pablo are also part of the cast.

"Green Bones" is based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs.

The screenplay was written by National Artist Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza. It will be directed by Zig Dulay, the filmmaker behind “Firefly.”

The film is produced by GMA Pictures and Public Affairs, and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.

"Green Bones," which tells the story of a man accused of murdering his sister and her daughter, is one of the first five finalists of MMFF 2024, along with "And the breadwinner is…," "Strange Frequencies: Haunted Hospital," "Himala: Isang Musikal," and "The Kingdom."

Ruru previously starred in “Black Rider” and is set to reprise his role as Ybrahim in the upcoming “Encantadia” spin-off “Sang’gre.”
