Alden Richards earns praises after emotional scene in 'Pulang Araw'

Alden Richards impressed viewers for his performance in an emotional scene in "Pulang Araw."

In Episode 61 of the series, Alden's character Eduardo gets reunited with his sister Adelina (Barbie Forteza) after he joins the guerilla forces.

Adelina brings news of Teresita's (Sanya Lopez) abduction by the Japanese, which leads Eduardo to lose his calm and rage against what could possibly be happening to the woman he loves.

He swears to save Teresita and kill Col. Yuta Saitoh (Dennis Trillo).

His fellow guerillas force him to the ground and tie his hands to get him to stop acting rashly, all while he is screaming Teresita's name.

"The intensity of this scene? Eduardo's insanity and rage after learning about Teresita's captivity, along with his countdown to Adelina had me on the edge of my seat. Alden's acting here is just so effective," a viewer said.

Another said she was amazed by how the actors performed as if they were in a movie.

"The best actor in his generation, Alden Richards! Grabe ka Eduardo, nakakabaliw ka!" a fan said.

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Alden thanked everyone for their kind words.

"I owe it to the audience and of course I owe to the people who have been part of this parang very dark times ng bansa natin," he said.

"Pulang Araw," which also stars David Licauco as Hiroshi, airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras. It is also streaming on Netflix.
