Brent Valdez says he will tell his grandkids about Jean Garcia’s slaps on ‘Widows War’
Brent Valdez could not help but gush over his experience when he got slapped by Jean Garcia on “Widows War.”
In the murder mystery series, the rising Sparkle star played Peter, a staff member of the Palacios family mansion, who takes on a relative’s identity to get money from the family. When it was revealed that he was scamming them, Aurora (Jean Garcia) continuously slapped him.
“Ms. Jean, thank you. Number one, it is an honor na nakasama kita sa show at masampal mo,” Brent told GMA News Online at the sidelines of the Sparkle and BPI cybersecurity workshop on Friday morning.
Brent was aware of how Jean did her famous slaps, and he recalled that before that particular scene, the seasoned actress was also very kind to him and said, “Dadahan-dahanin ko lang.”
"Our original plan was to go, gawin lang na fake, but then hindi eh. For the sake na makapagbigay kami ng totoong content o totoong scene to people, we did that," he said.
The actor also said Jean was “very caring.” After the scene, she also gave him some food and kept apologizing.
Brent added that he will forever be grateful for the experience.
“Siguro when I when I grow old, mapapanood nila ‘yung sequence na ‘yon, I will be proud and say to my grandchildren na, ‘Hey, did you know that Ms. Jean Garcia is the household name of my generation?’”
"Widows’ War" is a spinoff of the popular GMA-7 murder-mystery series "Royal Blood" and "Widow's Web."
Carla Abellana and Bea Alonzo play former best friends Georgina and Samantha, who both lose their husbands and become sworn enemies as they search for justice for their loved ones.
“Widows’ War” is directed by award-winning filmmaker Zig Dulay and airs weekdays at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Prime.
