Alden Richards, Kathryn Bernardo weigh in on second chances
Do Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo believe in second chances?
During the grand media day for "Hello, Love, Again" on Thursday, the two stars each shared their thoughts on second chances, making mistakes, and forgiveness.
“Kung Diyos nga, nagpapatawad, ‘di ba? Why not you?” Alden said.
The Sparkle star initially went for a “simple” answer, until Kathryn said something to him.
So, Alden continued, “But sometimes… Hindi, depende pa rin po talaga sa tao.”
According to him, it’s just really his mantra in life, especially since people tend to make mistakes repeatedly.
“At the same time, at the end of the day, you just—you know, ‘yung iba, minsan forgiveness talaga. You forgive, and then you forget. But sometimes you forgive and move on, but you never forget,” Alden said.
Kathryn followed, saying we all hope for a second chance.
“Lahat tayo, tao lang, we’re human beings. Even ako, sa sarili ko, alam ko na magkakamali at magkakamali ako. Makaka-disappoint ako ng tao, whether it’s intentional or unintentional, given ‘yon. Tao tayo eh, nagkakamali,” she said.
Per Kathryn, she would do anything to be given a second chance and an opportunity to correct her wrongdoings, rebuild relationships, and regain trust, which all come with forgiveness.
“But again, we have to remember, we’re all different, ‘di ba? Some people can give a second chance, like Tisoy (Alden), some can give multiple chances, and some won’t. And that’s OK,” she said, adding that people are different so it depends on the situation.
"And for me, lagi kong iniisip na forgiveness or second chances isn’t an obligation. It’s a choice and it's a gift, so kapag binigay sa'yo 'yun ng tao, it's a privilege. Just like any gift, you have to take care of that and you have to earn that gift," she ended.
During the event, Alden also thanked Kathryn for her continuous trust.
"I think hindi ko magagawa 'tong project na 'to without you, so I'm very grateful. And maraming salamat sa paghawak sa kamay ko in this project," he said.
"Hello, Love, Again," is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster hit "Hello, Love, Goodbye." Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, it continues the story five years after Joy left Hong Kong for Canada.
"Hello, Love, Again" will be in cinemas on November 13. Tickets are now on sale.
The Filipino movie will also be released in North America, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
