Sanya Lopez thankful for positive feedback for 'Pulang Araw' role, admits difficulty watching heavy scenes

Sanya Lopez has been receiving positive feedback for her portrayal of Teresita in “Pulang Araw,” although she admitted that their scenes can be quite heavy for her to watch.

As seen in the series' latest episodes, Teresita is now among the women held captive by the Japanese soldiers.

In Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras,” Wednesday, the Sparkle star expressed gratitude for the viewers’ kind words.

According to Sanya, meeting two of the country’s living comfort women really helped her in giving life to her character.

She also admitted that she finds it hard to watch heavy scenes from the Kapuso series.

Habang pinapanood namin, hindi kami makakain nang maayos, naduduwal kami sa sarili naming napapanood,” she said, adding that it’s a reminder of how lucky today’s women are because of the freedom we have.

Sanya stars alongside Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, and Alden Richards in the series.

The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the Philippines.
