Jessica Villarubin on viral church performance with Julie Anne San Jose: 'Maraming natuto po sa nangyari'
Jessica Villarubin was with Julie Anne San Jose at the benefit concert held inside a church in Occidental Mindoro earlier this month.
Julie Anne's performance of "Dancing Queen" at the event became viral after some netizens took issue with the song choice, which prompted Sparkle, the Kapuso singer, and parish priest to apologize to the public.
Jessica, who guested on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Wednesday, admitted her presence at the concert and shared her thoughts on her name initially being left out of the issue.
"Na-late pong pumutok 'yung sa 'kin eh," she said. "Pero kasama po ako doon."
"The Clash" Season 3 winner also addressed what happened from her perspective as one of the performers.
"Nagkapatawaran na po ang lahat and maraming natuto po sa nangyari and we really apologize po sa nangyari din po, so sana po pray for healing for everyone," she said.
"Siguro po next time mas dapat naming malaman kung ano po talaga 'yung gagawin," she added.
Jessica said she understands the reaction of the public, as she also served as a psalmist in a church choir for 15 years.
In a previous "Fast Talk" episode, Tito Boy said he agreed with the public reaction to the church performance but also brought up the realities faced by artists on the ground.
He also praised Julie Anne for her desire to help a small church during the event.
Both Jessica and Julie are part of the Queendom Divas of "All-Out Sundays," along with Rita Daniela, Hannah Precillas, Thea Astley, and Mariane Osabel. They held the "Queendom: Live" concert last year.
