Euwenn Mikaell, who plays a mayor in 'Forever Young,' has advice to Pinoy voters

"Forever Young" starring child actor Euwenn Mikaell could not come at a better time for the Philippines.

The upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series will premiere on Monday, October 21, just two weeks after aspiring government officials filed their certificate of candidacies for next year's elections.

Centered around Rambo Agapito, a 25-year-old man stuck in a 10-year-old boy's body who eventually becomes the mayor of a small city, the show's themes perfectly suit the moment as Filipinos begin to reflect on the leaders they want to elect into office.

Like his character, who gives rousing speeches like a seasoned politician in the show's trailer, Euwenn, 11, has clear thoughts on the kind of mayor people should support.

"'Yung mayor na hindi korap. 'Yung hindi bumibili ng votes kasi 'yung mga ganun parang, kailangan ba talaga? Ba't ka pa nagbabayad, ano ka pay to win? That's bad,” he told GMA News Online in an exclusive interview.

"Mga dapat iboto, 'yung mga tao na may ginagawang mabuti sa atin. ['Yung] nakakapagligtas ng mga tao. Gumagawa ng mga useful na building o lugar, kunyari ospital," added the young actor, who previously starred in "Firefly" and "Lolo and the Kid."

In the "Forever Young" media conference on Thursday, Euwenn's co-star Eula Valdez also said the series has lessons to impart to Filipino voters.

"Merong clear depiction ng sino ang mga dapat iboto. Sana maging guide ito sa atin sa nalalapit na eleksyon. Ito, sobrang klaro ang mga masakim sa kapangyarihan at 'yung mga may gusto talagang maitulong sa bayan," she said.

Directed by Gil Tejada Jr., "Forever Young" will air weekdays at 4 p.m. after "Shining Inheritance." Aside from Euwenn and Eula, its cast includes Michael De Mesa, Nadine Samonte, Alfred Vargas, Matt Lozano, Althea Ablan, Princess Aliyah, Abdul Rahman, Bryce Eusebio, James Blanco, Rafael Rosell, and more.
