'It's Showtime' hosts excited to celebrate 15th anniversary, 'Magpasikat' with Kapuso viewers
"It's Showtime" is set to hold its week-long anniversary special, "Magpasikat," this October, and the hosts are excited for Kapuso viewers to tune in.
The annual talent competition will be airing on GMA's main channel for the first time, and since the show is celebrating its 15th year, it's bound to be big.
During the show's 15th anniversary mediacon at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center in Quezon City on Friday, host Kim Chiu said she's grateful that GMA Network gave them the platform to reach a wider audience.
"Very thankful kami," she said. "Lalo na at first time namin i-ce-celebrate ang 'Magpasikat' sa GMA, at 15th anniversary pa kasama ang mga Kapuso."
"We're very happy, we're very lucky, and looking forward kami na mapanood ng lahat," she added.
The hosts have been hard at work in preparing for their respective teams' performances.
They described their upcoming presentations as "amazing," "spectacular" — for Jhong Hilario, it's "mapuso," and for Ogie Alcasid, it's "lantaran."
"Lahat kami sobrang pinaghahandaan 'yun. Dugo at pawis talaga," Kim said.
"Minsan kinekwestyon namin, 'Bakit ba natin to ginagawa, ano bang kapalit nito?' Wala, sadyang gusto lang talaga namin magbigay ng spectacular experience for the Madlang People for the entire week ng 'Magpasikat.'"
15 years on air
Vice Ganda reflected on the 15 years since "It's Showtime" aired.
"Actually, 'yung thought na 15th anniversary ito... Ang bilis no. Labing-limang taon na agad 'yun," she said.
"Lumipas na ang panahon... masarap siya, na medyo mahirap, na parang laging bago, parang laging first year. Diba pag first year, ang daming birth pains, ang daming pinagdadaanan, pero ang excitement ang taas din. Hanggang ngayon ganun pa rin ang nararamdaman namin," she added.
However, she said that they don't get complacent despite the show's long life.
In fact, they are always trying to come up with new and better segments.
"Marami pang magagandang segments… we always look forward to creating brand new segments na maglilibang sa audience natin, magbibigay ng learnings, realizations, magbibigay ng pagasa," she said.
Admittedly, it's not easy, because "kailangan mo sabayan 'yung panahon, kailangan mo sabayan ang mga trip ng mga manonood."
"Maraming bagay na kailangan naming itawid pero pinagtatagumpay and pinagtutulung-tulungan," she added. "And we always look forward to collaborating with each other to create amazing contents for our viewers."
"It's Showtime" will air its "Magpasikat" special from October 21 to 26.
