Smokey Mountain members Geneva Cruz, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Tony Lambino on being mentored by Ryan Cayabyab
Geneva Cruz, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and Tony Lambino have fond memories of working together with Ryan Cayabyab when they were younger.
Back in the '80s, they formed a singing group called Smokey Mountain along with James Coronel, assembled by Mr. C himself.
On Wednesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Geneva, Jeffrey, and Tony shared the most memorable lessons they have learned from the National Artist.
"One great lesson na tinuro niya sa amin is to love what you're doing, because if you love what you're doing, it will never feel like work, and 'yun 'yung naaapply ko sa sarili," Jeffrey said.
Tony remembers Mr. C as someone who sets a good example by submitting musical arrangements early.
"There's a time to play and a time to get serious," Geneva said. "Hindi puwedeng loloko loko 'pag nag-ta-trabaho, but he allowed us to play as well."
Among Smokey Mountain's classic hits include "Kailan," "Can This Be Love," and "Paraiso."
