Sanya Lopez visits El Museo de Zamboanga, learns more about World War II

Sanya Lopez learned new things about World War II as she paid a visit to El Museo de Zamboanga.

According to Efren Mamac’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, the museum houses World War II artifacts from the time of the Japanese occupation in Zamboanga.

“Ang isa sa mga tumatak talaga sa ‘kin, eto, etong Japanese flag. Kasi sinasabi nga daw noong panahon ng World War II, ‘yung mga soldier ng Japan ay may mga dalang Japanese flag, tapos ang paniniwala daw nila, etong mga nakasulat na ‘to, is pangalan ng family,” Sanya said.

“So siguro kung sino mang makakita dun sa soldier in case na binawian siya ng buhay eh makikita nung pamilya,” she continued.

Because of the flag, the Sparkle star remembered the friendship her “Pulang Araw” role, Teresita, has with the other characters.

“What if magkita-kita kami, ito nalang makita namin, ta’s nakasulat ‘yung pangalan namin dito? Naiiyak ako,” she said.

Some other objects she saw are Japanese currency, helmets that served as cooking pots, and a green Tansan bottle that originated in Japan.

“Dahil siguro umabot ng mga about two years ‘yung digmaan, so walang masyadong naging impluwensya sa Zamboangueño culture. Ang makikita lang natin is ang daming devastation sa city during the war,” museum curator Arch Torres said.

Sanya stars in “Pulang Araw” with Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, and Alden Richards.

The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the Philippines.

"Pulang Araw" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
