Michael V. says BINI parody song 'Salarin, Salarin' was inspired by 'Widows' War'
"Salarin, Salarin," the parody song of Nation's Grrr Group BINI-b10, has become an internet hit since it debuted on "Bubble Gang" on September 29.
According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the debut performance led by Michael V. has garnered 22 million accumulated views on social media, thus far. The parody song and its music video were based on BINI's hit "Salamin, Salamin."
The Kapuso Comedy Genius has said that "Salarin, Salarin" was inspired by GMA Network's murder mystery series, "Widows' War."
"Na-inspire ako nung 'Widows' War' kasi marami nang lumalabas na mga murder mystery na mga soap ang GMA. This is probably the first and only murder mystery music video na gagawin ng BINI-b10," he said.
Michael V. teamed up with Kokoy De Santos, Matt Lozano, Buboy, and Betong for their BINI-b10 group. While the parody song and its music video are upbeat and featured the group in vibrant, cute Y2K outfits, the song's lyrics featured dark and disturbing themes.
The Kapuso comedian added that it isn't impossible for the parody song to have a sequel.
He also underscored that their goal is to make people happy and laugh.
"'Yun lang naman ang importante sa akin, so minsan nga nalalagyan ng kulay na hindi naman talaga necessary at saka hindi naman talaga intended, so okay sige minsan nagiging mas malawak 'yung pananaw ng audience tungkol dun sa mga ginagawa namin. Pero tandaan niyo lang, ang gusto lang namin ay magpasaya ng mga tao, to entertain people," he said.
"Widows' War," directed by Zig Dulay, is a spinoff series of "Widow's Web" and "Royal Blood." It stars Bea Alonzo, Carla Abellana, Jean Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, and Benjamin Alves, among others.
"Widows' War" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8:50 p.m. after "Pulang Araw."
Meanwhile, “Bubble Gang” airs on Sundays at 6:10 p.m. on GMA Network and simulcast on GTV.
