'Pulang Araw' receives nomination for Best Soap/Telenovela from Venice TV Award
"Pulang Araw" was nominated for the Best Soap/Telenovela category at this year's Venice TV Award!
GMA Network shared the exciting news on Facebook, sharing a poster of the Kapuso series.
"Pulang Araw" was the only project from the Philippines that made it to this year's list of nominees across different categories.
It was listed alongside other soaps/telenovelas from Portugal, Turkey, and Brazil. "Lady of Tides" from Portugal won the category.
The annual Venice TV Award honors companies and individuals from the TV industry all over the world.
According to its website, the Venice TV Award was launched "as a tribute to and celebration of television, increasing national and international recognition for both producers and broadcasters who create high-quality output."
Meanwhile, "Pulang Araw" traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends, Adelina (Barbie Forteza), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards), as World War II erupts in the Philippines.
The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the country.
"Pulang Araw" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
