Mikoy Morales wows 'Pulang Araw' fans with performance in torture scene

Mikoy Morales has been earning praises from "Pulang Araw" fans for his gut-wrenching performance in a torture scene last week.

His character, Tasyo, screamed and cried in agony when Japanese soldiers pricked a needle under his nail under the orders of Col. Yuta Saitoh (Dennis Trillo).

In Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras," Monday, the Kapuso actor said that was the first time he shot a torture scene in his acting career.

"Kilabot sa akin to learn about it, yung scene and all these things that happened before and bringing it back to life. So medyo iba yung dating sa akin," he said.

Mikoy also shared how they shot the scene, explaining that they used finger prosthetics.

"Parang may dinadag na finger 'yun eh, so when they put it in the nail, hindi pumapasok sa kuko ko 'yun pero nararamdaman ko pa rin siya," he said.

"It helps that I see it, but it also helps na nasa room si Alden (Richards) saka si Sir Dennis," he added.

This is not the first time Mikoy wowed with his acting skills. Last year, he won the Best Actor trophy at the Cinemalaya Film Festival for his performance in the film "Tether."

"Pulang Araw," which also stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, and David Licauco, airs weekdays on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." It is also streaming on Netflix.
