Crystal Paras to release new single, reflects on showbiz journey after 5 years

Crystal Paras is set to drop her second single, "You, Me, and Us," on October 11.

The new record comes two years after her debut song, "Hintay," which was released in 2022.

In a media conference on Wednesday, the Sparkle actress said she was given the song four years ago. The piece is about a person who promises to stay despite the hardships in a relationship.

"Parang bakit ako susuko just because it's hard?" she said. "I will not give up just because we're going through a rough patch and I hope this song, I hope you feel the same way when you listen to this song."

Crystal also reflected on reaching five years in the showbiz industry. She began her career after joining "StarStruck" Season 7.

"The journey has been rough so far, pero ang masasabi ko po, itong limang taon po na napagdaanan ko, 'Voltes V,' 'Asawa Ng Asawa Ko,' I thought I would never reach the five years. At some point I felt like I wouldn't be given projects," she said.

"But we're here and with a second song coming out, so I'm thankful that they're giving us newbies a chance to sing," she said. "I love singing. I started in theater. My mom is also an actress in theater. Pangarap niya rin dati na mag-TV," Crystal said.

Crystal played the Boazanian spy Judy in "Voltes V: Legacy." She was also the love interest of Big Bert Armstrong, played by Matt Lozano.

Aside from her role, she sang the official love theme song of the series "Ikaw Sana Ang Nauna," which was written by director Mark Reyes.

She currently appears as Cristy's cousin Nonette in "Asawa Ng Asawa Ko." She also performed the show's OST, "Sa Akin Siya," together with Jennifer Maravilla.

Other Kapuso OSTs sang by Crystal were "Dapat Ba" from "Makiling," "Never Stop Believin'" from "Hearts on Ice," "Pinag-isa from "The Lost Recipe," "Another You" from "The Write One," "Kita Mo Ba" from "I Can See You," and "Ikaw Pala" from "The Gift."
