Maria Ozawa talks about her struggles as a former adult video star

Maria Ozawa was only 19 years old when she started working in the adult video industry in Japan.

On Wednesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Maria said that a lot of people left her when she started making adult movies.

"They would say things," she said. "But the friends that I'm with right now, we've been together forever."

"Family-wise, [it was] really, really messy," Maria said.

Despite the situation, she said that she still understood her parents' reasons.

"Of course, they're a parent, I'm a girl. Of course, they will go against it. But when I left the house, I just told them that I'm gonna come back bigger, better. And I just want them to wait, and I said I'm sorry. But then afterwards, I never went back," she said.

At present, Maria and her family are doing better.

"There's a lot to work [on], but it's getting better, I guess. I've invited them to the Philippines a couple of times," she said.

Maria has already left the adult video industry.

"I wanted to quit the industry while they still know about me or when they're still talking about me. 'Cause how am I supposed to prove anything if I'm not famous anymore?" she said.

She came to the Philippines in 2014 when her Filipino friends visited Japan and told her to give the country a try.

Maria now stars in "Pulang Araw" as Haruka Tanaka, the mom of Hiroshi Tanaka, played by David Licauco.

The series traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends, Adelina (Barbie Forteza), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David), and Eduardo (Alden Richards), before and during World War II.

The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the Philippines. He will have feelings for Teresita.

"Pulang Araw" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." It is also streaming on Netflix.
