Karylle, among headliners of reality show ‘Manila Matriarchs'

Karylle is part of an upcoming Filipina-fronted reality show, “Manila Matriarchs.”

According to Deadline, the "It's Showtime" host is joined by fashion professional Myrza Sison, and businesswomen Joanna Preysler-Francisco and Trisha Bantigue-Tsao.

“Manila Matriarchs” is an unscripted reality show taped in Metro Manila and San Francisco.

The eight-part series will follow the women, “as they navigate motherhood, sisterhood, careers, love, social standing, and the pursuit of true happiness,” Deadline said.

A streamer or network for the series is yet to be announced, but according to Deadline, the project is supported by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and Secretary Benhur Abalos of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The series was created and executive produced by Filipino-Americans, namely Cece Asuncion, Miguel Santos, Eddie Tran, Joy Tarce, JP Mallo, and Justyn Reyes.

Asuncion told the publication how excited she is to highlight the lives of the women.

“Their stories are surprisingly relatable and human. This is my love letter to not only Filipina women, but to all women,” she said.

Mallo added how important it was to tell "relatable stories with a uniquely Filipino point of view because it simply just doesn’t happen as often as it should."

"The nuances of our culture are meant to be celebrated on the world stage," Mallo said.

For Santos, the four leads of "Manila Matriarch" are showcasing "what power and success already looks like for women in the Philippines, which is a country that has been very progressive with women’s rights for generations.”

Karylle is best known for being a host on “It’s Showtime.” She is the original Sang’gre Alena in “Encantadia.”

Myrza Sison is making a name for herself as a motivational speaker in recent years. She is also a Palanca award-winning writer, a former top editor at Summit Media, and former model.

Joanna Preysler-Francisco is an entrepreneur who works in the fashion business as a designer, supplier, and owner of several businesses.

Finally, Filipino-American tech entrepreneur Trisha Bantigue-Tsao is the CEO and co-founder of Queenly, the largest online marketplace for formalwear.
