Mon Confiado files cybercrime complaint vs. content creator for 'copypasta' post about him

Mon Confiado has filed a cybercrime complaint against Ileiad, the content creator who posted a "copypasta" that fabricated a story about him.

On Facebook, the actor shared a photo of him at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division and called out Ileiad. Mon said his real name is Jeff Leanneroie Bonilla Jacinto.

I'm looking forward to personally meet you in court Mr. Jeff Jacinto. God Speed," Mon wrote.

Ileiad, who has over 21,000 followers on Facebook, posted the "copypasta" based on a meme that has been going around the internet, which has been copied many times with just different names of people and places.

"Gumawa ng story using my name & my photo… na-meet daw niya ako sa grocery at magpapa-picture daw siya pero dinuro-duro ko daw siya sa mukha at nakita niya na hindi ko binayaran ang 15 Milky Way Choco Bars na kinuha ko… at pinagsisigawan ko daw ang cashier ng grocery. Pinapalabas pa nito na magnanakaw ako," Mon said.

The actor took offense with the post, slamming Ileiad and confronting the content creator for making a joke at his expense.

"Joke pero nakakasira ng tao? Bakit ka magjo-joke sakin? Close ba tayo? Tapos sasabihin joke," he said.

Never happened. At hindi ako ganung tao," he added.

In a screenshot of their chat conversation online, Ileiad apologized to Mon.

"It's not my intention to tarnish your image in anyway. Like what they said in the comments, it's a joke, although I do agree with you that not everyone will understand it," he said.

Ileiad has taken down the post and issued a statement.

"My deepest and sincerest apologies to critically-acclaimed actor Mon Confiado. As requested, I have taken down the vile and misleading post off the page and I will only be making copypastas about myself from now on," he said.

"And as penance, I will be eating only Filipino-branded cornballs for lunch and perhaps even for dinner," he added.

Mon was not satisfied with the apologies and proceeded to file a complaint before the NBI. He said that "joke" puts his work at risk, such as films, endorsements, and brand ambassadorships.

"Mr.

"Oo.

As of writing, Ileiad's page is now unavailable on Facebook.

GMA News Online is trying to reach out to Ileiad for comment.
