Marian Rivera reveals significance of her Cinemalaya Best Actress Award
Marian Rivera won the best actress award for her work in "Balota" at the recently concluded Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, and on Instagram Monday, the Kapuso Primetime Queen revealed its significance.
"Nakuha ko ang aking unang acting award sa edad na forty. sang bagay na akala ko’y hindi ko na magagawa. Posible pa pala," she captioned her Reel.
But according to Marian, the bigger gift was her renewed sense of passion for her craft.
"Higit sa award, ang regalong natanggap ko ay ang muling pagliyab ng aking pagmamahal sa paggawa ng pelikula, dahil sa inspirasyong ibinigay sa akin ng Cinemalaya community," she said.
"Isa itong makabuluhang chapter sa buhay ko na hinding-hindi ko malilimutan," Marian added.
In her post, the Best Actress winner graciously thanked everybody who helped her: her manager Mike Tuviera, GMA Network especially Ms. Cheryl Ching-Sy, her husband Dingdong Dantes, the cast and crew of "Balota," especially its director Kip Oebanda.
Marian was hailed Best Actress of the festival on Sunday, along Gabby Padilla for "Kono Basho."
Immediately after its premiere, "Balota" — and Marian — turned viral and got high praises from viewers. It was a different kind of Marian Rivera that viewers saw. Unconventional and deglamorized, Marian showcased her versatile acting range.
In her post, Dingdong commented "We are all so proud of you." It's the same sentiment he's expressed in his various social media channels shortly after Marian's win.
"Proud is an understatement," he wrote on Facebook.
Congratulations, Marian! And thank you for reminding us that we are not late, and that we follow our own personal timelines.
