John Arcilla commends Marian Rivera for 'Balota' role: 'It is such an admirable act'

John Arcilla is all praises for Marian Rivera for her participation of the film "Balota."

Sharing the trailer on his Instagram, the award-winning actor wrote, “[Marian] made a film for [Cinemalaya] with relevant Issues right after the Phenomenal BLOCKBUSTER film REWIND that raked Billion of Pesos in the box office. I think it is such an admirable act."

“It is indeed a gesture of giving back to the industry where she found her passion,” he added. “Salute to @marianrivera and God bless you more! I will definitely watch this film."

He also invited everybody to catch “Balota” at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival from August 2 to 11.

Marian appreciated John’s words and left a comment. “Salamat po ng marami,” she said.

Her husband, Dingdong Dantes also commented, “Salamat, Heneral.”

Balota” follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.

Marian will play the role of Emmy, a teacher who serves in the election. Emmy runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results when violence in their town erupts.

The Kapuso actress said the role brought back her fulfillment at work.

Meanwhile, Arcilla is known for playing Antonio Luna in Jerrold Tarog's "Heneral Luna."
