Cassy Lavarias grateful for positive feedback on her performance as young Adelina in 'Pulang Araw'

At her young age, Cassy Lavarias is already earning praise for her exceptional acting in "Pulang Araw."

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the 11-year-old child actress expressed her gratitude for the positive feedback.

Cassy plays the younger version of Barbie Forteza's character in the series, Adelina Dela Cruz.

"Na-o-overwhelm po ako sa lahat po ng comments po na binibigay po nila sa akin, papuri po, and I just want to say thank you po sa pagsu-support po," Cassy said.

Cassy said she is beginning to be recognized by the public when she goes outside.

"Sinasabi po nila, 'Huy si 'Pulang Araw.'' 'Yun po 'yung tawag nila sa akin ngayon, 'Pulang Araw' po," she said. "Masaya, grateful, overwhelmed, excited, marami po. Like, 'di ko po maintindihan kung ano po 'yung emotion po na aanuhin ko."

Cassy started her showbiz career when she was only six years old. She also played the young version of Barbie's "Maging Sino Ka Man" character, Monique.

"Napakaganda po ni Ate Barbie. Napakahusay niya pong umarte. Marami po siyang talent, and masaya lang po ako na ako po 'yung gumanap na young Barbie Forteza po sa 'Pulang Araw,'" Cassy said.

"Pulang Araw" traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends: Adelina (Barbie), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards).

The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the Philippines. He will have feelings for Teresita.

The show made a strong debut on Netflix on July 26 and was a trending topic on X. It is currently on the No. 1 spot of the platform's list of "Top 10 TV Shows in the Philippines Today."

"Pulang Araw" also airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
