OPM legends come together for a concert to raise funds for folk singer Coritha
Lolita Carbon, Bayang Barrios, Cooky Chua and Chickoy Pura are just a few stellar names coming together to perform a show on Monday, to raise funds for folk singer Coritha.
The folk singer, who is behind hits like "Oras Na," needs help after multiple strokes have left her bed-ridden.
But her health condition was just the latest in a string of bad luck.
In a Facebok post, retired doctor, sound engineer and producer Romeo Babao said Coritha's house was razed by fire in 2017. The incident left her living in a tent within the burned property with no electricity.
Coritha is currently living in the Tagaytay house of her partner, Luisito Santos, who earlier talked about Coritha's condition. It quickly reached her friends, including The Jerks manager Monet Pura, who then organized the show at My Brother's Moustache on Monday, August 5. Door charge is P500.
Also on the bill are Mike Villegas (who will accompany Bayang Barrios), Bobby Mondejar and Friends, Toto Sorioso, Corky & Kiko, Kwachi Vergara (who will accompany Cooky Chua), Becky & Lester Demetillo.
In a separate Facebook post, Monet has shared other things people can donate to Coritha, including adult diapers, milk, wipes, and nasogastric tubes.
Coirtha's friends are all rallying behind her, including Dong Abay who shared a touching cover of "Oras Na" on Facebook.
"No copyright infringement intended," he wrote on Facebook. "For awareness of Coritha's health concerns. Please support efforts for her healing."
