Marian Rivera says she refused to have a body double in 'Balota'
Being fussy isn't an option for Marian Rivera when it comes to work.
According to Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the Kapuso Primetime Queen declined to have a body double in her scenes for the Cinemalaya film "Balota."
"Sabi ko, 'Direk, ayoko, ayoko [ng body double]. Kaya ko naman, grabe naman kayo sa akin.' Sabi ko nga, 'Na-miss ko 'yung mga fight scene ko," said Marian.
The actress also said that even if the crew conducts an ocular in an area for a scene, she no longer thinks about whether she'd get bumps or scratches once the camera starts rolling.
"Pag nag-eksena ka na, 'yung adrenaline mo, sa pag-arte mo, parang hindi mo na iisipin kung, 'Ay masusugatan ako.' Pag ganu'n ang inisip mo, parang hindi maganda 'yung kalalabasan," she said.
She showed some of the bruises that she sustained from filming "Balota" and also said that the entire experience had no filter.
"No filter talaga lahat eh. Pag sinabi kong no filter, hitsura, lines at mga ginagawa. Lahat talaga, raw," she said.
"Balota" is directed by award-winning filmmaker Kip Oebanda and will screen at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, which will run from Aug. 2 to 11.
The story follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.
Marian plays the role of Emmy, a teacher who serves in the election. She runs into the wilderness with a ballot box, the last copy of the election results, when violence in their town erupts.
Apart from Marian, other cast members include Sassa Gurl, Esnyr, Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Verzosa.
