Did Pia Arcangel, Connie Sison ever consider entering showbiz? Broadcasters answer

Pia Arcangel and Connie Sison, two veteran broadcast journalists of GMA Integrated News, graced the episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Wednesday.

The King of Talk commented about their pretty faces and asked whether they ever considered entering show business or got offers to become actresses.

Connie said that some people would often notice her similarities with Aiko Melendez, which according to her is flattering as she also admires the actress's beauty.

She also went on to recall her first ever on-cam appearance when she was a five years old in a movie that starred Coney Reyes

"Hindi ako kasali sa script kaya lang nandoon ako. Nakita nilang naglalaro ako sa gilid. Sabi ng direktor 'kunin mo na 'yan, kunin mo na 'yan. Kunwari na lang may anak sila,'" Connie shared.

"So ako naman, wala akong kamuwang-muwang. 'Di sabi nila mag-smile lang ako. E 'di smile-smile lang ako. But that was it. That was it for me," she added.

Despite this experience, and her nephew Martin Del Rosario joining showbiz, Connie said she didn't think of trying acting.

"Never talaga. Kasi sa totoo talaga, mahiyain talaga ako. Actually kami sa family, mga kapatid ko, mahiyain kaming lahat," she said.

"But because I'm in this industry [media], kinailangan ko. I mean siguro mayroon din akong talagang innately… na mayroon din akong kakapalan sa pagko-cover dapat. Meron ka dapat guts diba?" Connie added.

Pia, meanwhile, revealed that her mom once tried to audition her as a commercial model when she was a baby.

"Sinali daw ako ng mommy ko sa isang pa-contest. Parang naghahanap sila ng model for a baby powder. Tapos sinubmit niya 'yong picture ko pero hindi ako nakuha dahil masyado daw mataba," she said.

"Noong naalala ko 'yon, sabi ko 'ayoko na ngang mag-audition ng kahit ano,'" Pia said, adding that she never considered joining the entertainment industry as acting is not her forte.

"Hindi ko kaya 'yong iiyak. Baka wala talaga 'yong talent," she said.

Connie currently anchors "Balitanghali" alongside Raffy Tima. She is also the host of the GMA Public Affairs' medical program Pinoy MD.

Meanwhile, Pia is currently a co-anchor of "24 Oras Weekend" and "Saksi."
