Who is Migz Diokno? Meet the teen actor who plays young Hiroshi in 'Pulang Araw'
As "Pulang Araw" airs its pilot week on primetime television, viewers are introduced to different characters and actors—both old and fresh faces.
Tuesday night's episode saw the entrance of child actor Migz Diokno, who plays the young version of David Licauco's character Hiroshi Tanaka.
Hiroshi is introduced as one of the "hojin" children, or Japanese people who live outside Japan. Adelina and Eduardo encounter them on a baseball field.
Who is the promising young actor who brings him to life? Get to know Migz with these interesting facts below.
1. He is a P-pop artist
Born Miguel Gabriel Diokno, Migz is a member of the seven-piece P-pop group Cloud7 that debuted in August 2023 with the song "Tara Na."
He serves as the group's vocalist and main dancer, proving that he can do both acting and performing.
2. He has appeared in several movies and TV series
Before "Pulang Araw," Migz has played a couple of roles both in the silver and small screen.
Among his film appearances include the 2021 film "Happy Times," which starred Ricci Rivero.
3. He is an award-winning actor
Migz has definitely earned his spurs as a child actor with a couple of acting accolades under his belt.
In 2020, he was nominated for Best Child Performer at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2020 for his role in "Tagpuan."
Two years later, he won the Movie Child Actor of the Year at the 37th PMPC Star Awards for the same role, proving his acting talent.
4. A Bea Alonzo fan
Migz is also a fanboy like any other of us.
As seen on his Instagram, he is a fan of Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo, who played his tita in the series "A Love to Last."
5. A proud Kapuso
Migz and his fellow Cloud7 members officially became Kapuso talents when they formally signed a contract with Sparkle during the Signed for Stardom 2024 event in May.
His performance as Hiroshi in "Pulang Araw" marks his first-ever acting role as a Sparkle artist.
"Pulang Araw" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." It is also streaming on Netflix, where it has landed at the no. 1 spot on the Top 10 TV shows in the Philippines Today.
It is top-billed by Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards, who play four childhood friends who face different struggles before and during World War II.
The main antagonist of the series is Col. Yuta Saitoh, played by Dennis Trillo. He is a Japanese imperial army officer whose mission is to conquer the Philippines.
