Faith Da Silva, Ashley Ortega, Elijah Alejo, more Sparkle stars on relief efforts: 'It's our way of giving back'
Faith Da Silva, Ashley Ortega, Elijah Alejo, and more Sparkle stars have volunteered their services to repack relief goods for the victims of Super Typhoon Carina and the Habagat rains.
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, Faith, Ashley, Elijah, and other celebrities went to the GMA Kapuso Foundation warehouse in Quezon City to participate in Operation Bayanihan.
Ashley's family in Cainta was affected by the massive floods, so she knows how important it is to do what she can for others.
"They stayed na lang sa second floor though they're safe naman. 'Yun nga lang may mga gamit talaga na nasira," she said.
Other Kapuso stars who joined the relief efforts include Kim Perez, Jayson Gainza, Shuvee Etrata, Olive May, Kurst Viray, Angel Leighton, and AZ Martinez.
"It's our way of giving back dun sa mga Kapuso na lagi po tayong sinusuportahan 'di ba," Elijah said.
"Siguro ito na lang 'yung maliit na bagay na pwede naming gawin para makatulong sa kanila bukod sa aming mga panalangin," Faith added.
Philippine Army reservist and singer Ronnie Liang also pitched in to help with the repacking after joining the rescue efforts on Wednesday.
"Masarap sa pakiramdam 'pag nakakatulong kasi ang reservist po kasi, ano siya volunteer. Walang sweldo po pero ito po 'yung paglilingkod na wala kaming ine-expect na anumang kapalit," he said.
Other military reservists who were part of the relief efforts were Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino, and Beatrice Luigi Gomez.
The National Capital Region, Bataan, Bulacan, Batangas and Cavite have been placed under state of calamity due to the effects of Super Typhoon Carina and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
Several organizations and businesses have launched donation drives to provide food, water, and other essential items to those affected by the floods.
Proceeds from the GMA Gala 2024, which was held last weekend, were also diverted for the benefit of Typhoon Carina victims through the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
