Ruru Madrid recalls being slapped by Philip Salvador during an audition

Ruru Madrid looked back on the time when Philip Salvador slapped him during one of his auditions at the start of his showbiz career.

During his guest appearance on Thursday's "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the Primetime Action Hero said that it happened at the same exact studio where he and Tito Boy were talking.

"Dito mismo, sa same studio na ito. Ito mismo. Dito po niya ako unang beses sinampal. Sinampal dahil nag-o-audition ako, tapos siguro hindi ko makuha 'yung eksena. It was a very first time," Ruru said.

"Hindi siguro lumalabas 'yung emosyon ko," he said.

Ruru remembered that he was given a monologue about confronting a drunk father.

"Dahil siguro hindi niya maramdaman, sabi niya, 'Isipin mo ako tatay mo.' Tumayo siya, lumapit siya sa 'kin, 'Line!'" he said.

Just as Ruru started saying his line, Philip slapped him.

"Siyempre first time eh. So hindi ko alam kung anong ire-react ko. Pero ginawa ko, Tito Boy, tinuloy ko 'yung eksena," he said. "Sabi niya, 'Good. 'Yan 'yung hinahanap ko sa 'yo."

Ruru and Philip were reunited once again in "Black Rider" as the series heads towards its finale.

In a previous interview, Ruru said that Philip gives him pointers about how to become a better action star.

"Sabi niya, 'ang pagiging action star, hindi lang basta pogi ka lang dapat,'" he said, adding that the senior actor also reminds him to be humble.

"Black Rider" is now on its finale week. It airs 8 p.m. on GMA Prime after "24 Oras."
