Anjo Pertierra back on 'Unang Hirit' after being affected by Carina
Anjo Pertierra is back to work on "Unang Hirit" Thursday after being among those badly affected by Carina.
Anjo was back on field in Marikina, giving weather updates and showing the situation of the Marikina River, which exceed its limit on Wednesday, caused widespread flooding, and forced residents to evacuate.
Anjo himself was among those badly hit by Carina. On Instagram all through Wednesday, the Kapuso weather specialist documented his experience, showing how he couldn't enter his room anymore because it was flood, his car Ponky left out in the rain, and leaving their Marikina home with just one bag, evacuating by boat.
On Thursday, "Unang Hirit" thanked Anjo for showing up and going on duty.
Carina has exited Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning, but not before intensifying into a Super Typhoon category late Wednesday and enhancing the habagat. A number of dams have had to open their floodgates, with Metro Manila placed under the state of calamity, amid severe flooding. On Thursday morning Cainta, Rizal, was also placed under the state of calamity.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is still in effect in Batanes. Strong winds from 39 to 61 km/h may be expected in the province within the next 36 hours, and wind impacts may result in minimal to minor threat to life and property.
